Regen Church, Marana Arizona, Pastor Jeff Purcell

BACKGROUND

OUR MISSION

To build a community of gospel-centered individuals who love and serve God and people.

OUR COMMITMENTS

We will strive to keep the gospel of Christ central in all we do. We will teach and embrace the sound biblical doctrines of historic Christianity. We will exhort believers to grow in their knowledge of God and in holiness. We will practice “theologically informed” and passionate musical worship. We will seek and welcome the presence and power of the Spirit of God. We will provide quality care and teaching of God’s truth to children of all ages. We will strive to strengthen our families. We will encourage vibrant relationships among our people. We will show God’s love by serving our community. We will live by God’s grace and for God’s glory.

OUR NAME

Regeneration is a biblical word for the work that God does within his people to change their hearts of “stone” and unbelief to hearts of “flesh” that will trust in him. To us, it emphasizes God’s power, grace and sovereignty. We also play off of the “re” and the “generation” parts of the word. “Re” alludes to our redemption by Christ, repentance from sin, reliance on God’s grace, renewal of the Holy Spirit, relationship with one another and reaching out to serve. “Generation” alludes to the biblical declaration that God’s people are a “chosen generation” and, also, to our church’s commitment to minister to people of all ages. All that from one name! We also use a shortened version of our name – ReGen.

OUR BEGINNING

ReGeneration was publicly launched on September 9, 2007. Our origin, however, goes back almost a year before that to when the leadership of Faith Community Church in Tucson (www.faithtucson.org) felt that God was leading them to start planting churches around the area. Jeff Purcell, who had served on the pastoral staff there for almost twenty years, was asked to put a team together to lead the first “plant”. In May of 2007 that team began meeting to plan and pray for this new church.
